Sendantodoro Waterfall in Spring, Kumamoto Prefecture.
One of my favorite places in Kyushu area is a waterfall called "Sedantodoroki no taki". It's a very long waterfall deep in the mountains of the Gokanosho area in Kumamoto Prefecture. A lot of tourists visit there to sightsee in spring, because there are cherry trees all around the waterfall. The view of the waterfall and cherry trees in full bloom is really nice!
Here is one of the Gokanosho area, called Sendantodoroki. You can enjoy taking a walk down to the Sendantodoroki Waterfall through this path. The air is so fresh, and clean.
70 meters high, 3-4 meters wide, the basin ( plunge pool ) of this waterfall is 4 meters, this waterfall is the biggest in the Gokanosho area. The area is famous for its beautiful greenery in spring and golden maple trees in autumn, and attracts many visitors with its natural beauty.
Autumn is another popular season for sightseeing. The leaves of the trees around the waterfall turn red and yellow. The color combination of the waterfall and colored leaves are very beautiful. I really recommend you to go there in autumn.
In additon, if you go there during the summer, you can enjoy camping and fishing along the river that leads to the waterfall. You may catch some fish called Yamame, which means"Mountain ladies" in Japanese, so you can imagine the fish is quite beautiful and grill them by the river for your meal.
In winter you can see all the trees covered with snow. There is such a fantastic, snowy view from the top of the mountains down to the valley blow.
When you visit the Gokanosho area, if you have time, you also can enjoy visiting "Tsujyun kyo"that is a famous stone bridge through water or "Gorou ga taki." that is also a waterfall.
